Sequoia Montessori School is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, currently proposing to open an Oregon Public Charter School to serve elementary students in the Salem-Keizer Public Schools, School District 24J. The school may potentially open in the fall 2014, pending the outcome of an appeal to the State Department of Education. The school will initially offer two blended classrooms serving students in grades 1-3. The school will expand in the second year to three classrooms and add upper elementary grades as the school matures. Eventually Sequoia will serve 90 children in grades 1-5. Sequoia Montessori School’s curriculum aligns with state and district standards, and is based on proven models developed by other Montessori public charter schools. Enrollment will be offered through lottery, ensuring a fair process for all of those who are interested in attending. OUR MISSION is to provide an authentic and nurturing Montessori education to develop creative, inquisitive minds.
